Our Research

Equality Housing Co-op was created by members of LGBT Health and Wellbeing’s Age Action Group in Edinburgh. The Age Action Group identified the problems for queer people faced with entering into sheltered or care residency. We were able to conduct our own research with the help of member Professor Emeritus Tim Kelly into the needs and expectations of our community members. We highly commend it to readers here. It’s called “Fit for Purpose, Inclusive Housing and Social Care for Older LGBT+ People”.

LGBT Health in Edinburgh published our research and it’s findings, together with it’s Executive Summary.

We want to create the possibility of allowing us to choose to live within a community where we can age in place, where our identities and culture are supported, proudly valued and respected.
