Co-operative Housing

Many thousands of businesses use this business model based on co-operation. Housing co-ops can be found throughout the world including Scotland, Europe, Australia, and in fact world-wide. They are member-owned, democratic and without shareholders, so profits are used for enhancing the business, and the community. All members are treated equally.

Who we are

We are all volunteers. We know that our community members do not fit well into existing supported provision. ‘The last innings’ – going back into the closet to ‘survive’ has never been acceptable.

Our research shows that our proposal, to create residential queer provision, will be popular as an option for many of us, if at some point in older life it becomes necessary.

We want to create a solution which makes it possible, for us to choose to live within a community where we can age in place, where our identities and culture is maintained, proudly valued and respected.

Who belongs to our community?

All people who are LGBTQIA+ or who identify as queer as they age.

Our guiding principles, shared with the Co-op Movement , commit us to an inclusive membership including all races, all creeds, all levels of affluence and all varieties of the wonderful ways in which we identify ourselves.
